De Stijl

De Stijl–meaning the style, in Dutch–began in 1917, it represented abstraction, order and simplicity. Geometric shapes and primary colours are a staple feature of this movement. De Stijl is also a publication containing significant artworks of this movement, including the works of Theo Van Doesburg, Piet Mondrian and Gerrit Reitveld.


Constructivism began following the end of WW1. It was an art movement that sort to rebuild the world in a positive way, directed towards social change.
